Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Short-term Care Quality
We also wanted to note that this nursing home was given an F for its short-term care score. Short-term care grades are meaningful for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With a score of this caliber for this category, we weren't shocked to find that this place was below average in two of the key staffing areas we assess. The facility supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. We looked at the licensure of nurses at the facility, as well as the number of hours those nurses spent with residents, in computing our grade in this area. This nursing home provided just 0.1 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed is long-term care. It received an abysmal F for this area, which is a poor score. For patients seeking a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 96.32353 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
