Although we didn't rate this facility favorably overall, we did give it an excellent grade in the area of inspections, where it earned an A-. Inspection scores are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Historical

This facility was awarded its second most favorable category score in the category of long-term care. We gave this facility a grade of B- in this area, which is an acceptable score. Our long-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's volume of nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of personal care services, ranging from assistance with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We found that this facility provided the vaccine to a relatively low 86.60287 percent of its residents, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Unfortunately, its hospitalization rate was worse than we hoped. We found that this nursing home had 2.43 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Although this figure is quite a bit higher than the national average, this number may be skewed for some facilities based on the preexisting medical conditions of residents

Historical

We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. We analyzed the levels of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the quantity of time those nurses spent with patients, in determining our score in this category. This nursing home averages 3.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is below the national average. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility. This could be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These metrics hurt this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.

Historical

The last area we looked at was short-term care, where this facility was given a rock bottom score in this category as well. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this area, which is obviously very concerning. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 37.3 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below average.
