Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We want to note that this nursing home earned a much better grade for short-term care than its overall score. In fact, it received one of our highest scores in that category with an A-. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

In addition, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+ in our nursing category. This is one of our better grades. The nursing rating analyzes quite a few subcategories, but the paramount consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: C

This nursing home's inspection grade appears to be one of its best features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. This facility was hit with 8 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but none were in category J, K or L. This indicates CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to place resident safety or health in imminent harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final category we assessed is long-term care, which turned out to be a low point for this facility. We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our long-term care category. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility administered the vaccine to 98.14815 percent of its patients, which is a very respectable figure. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
