Nurse Quality
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. We scrutinized the levels of nurses at the facility, as well as the number of hours those nurses worked with residents, in determining our rating in this area. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did very well in this statistic.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't grade out too badly in the category of short-term care. In fact, we awarded it a B- for that category, which ended up being among its higher scores. In determining our short-term care scores, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other types of therapists. This category is more often than not a reliable measure of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. This figure was below average.

Facility Inspections
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's inspection rating where it received a lowly F. We would advise paying close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection score. We suggest you pay close attention to the level of severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home had 6 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they posed a threat to patient safety or health. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded was long-term care. We gave it an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. For long-term care residents, the primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 98.5782 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
