Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this ended up being a great nursing home is it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this very important category. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with better grades in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

We also want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received a first-rate score of A in our long-term care category. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 41.420116 percent of its patients. This is a bit lower than we expected. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. There are quite a few criteria included in this area. Most of the datapoints reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we analyzed was short-term care, in which this nursing home was given a grade of B. Even though this ended up being its least impressive category grade, this is still an impressive grade. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
