Nurse Quality
In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this nursing home really excelled in nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Our nursing score includes several components, many of which are associated with nursing hours. This particular nursing home provided 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also performed well in our inspection category, which is based on its inspection reports. We gave it a grade of B+ for that category, which is one of our best grades. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The third area we graded is long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B-. Our long-term care grades are more critical for folks in need of more traditional services related to personal care. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated just 82.89474 percent of its residents. The last statistic we assessed was the nursing home's hospitalization rate. We found that this place had a relatively high 3.98 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Neither its vaccination record nor its hospitalization rate were strengths for this nursing home in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we scored is short-term care. We gave this nursing home a C in this area. Our short-term care ratings are likely more important for patients needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 44.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home. This figure was below average.
