Nurse Quality
This nursing home's nursing grade is better than its overall score. Due to a strong performance in this area, it earned a quality score in that category with a B+. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of factors, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving residents even once per day.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also received favorable health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better scores in that category, with a B. Our inspection ratings are based on items located in the a nursing home's inspections. Facilities that score well in this area tend to have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we gave this facility a B in our short-term care category. This happens to be one of our more favorable grades. Short-term care grades are important for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more skilled nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the fourth category, this facility really did not fare very well. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this was this nursing home's poorest area. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. After looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
