Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall score was not a highlight, it did receive a very good grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a B+ for that area, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores are tied to many datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home excelled in our nursing category, where it received an D. Our nursing score is primarily based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This place performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's next best score was long-term care. However, with a grade of D in this category, it still fared somewhat badly. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes offer. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 87.303505 percent of its residents. This is many points lower than the national average. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the next area, this nursing home didn't perform very well in this category either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in short-term care, this is about as bad as it gets. In calculating our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. With a score this poor for this area, we were not surprised to find that this facility was below average in many staffing figures we focus on. In fact, it supplied significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most nursing homes. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.3 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.
