Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Our inspection ratings are tied to many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid nursing homes with severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

This nursing home's next most respectable category was long-term care, but it nevertheless earned just a D in that category. This still happens to be a well below average grade. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 99.10113 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.

Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. The nursing grade considers a number of subcategories. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home offered only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is not a very impressive figure. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

The last category we assessed was short-term care, in which this nursing home received an abysmal score here as well. It received a lowly F in this area, which is definitely a major concern. Short-term care grades are often employed to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. To have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Based on its weak score in this area, we weren't surprised to find that this place offers substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
