In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ in the area of long-term care. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. This facility vaccinated 98.18182 percent of its residents, which is much higher than most nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the nursing home's number of hospitalizations. With 2 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home was close to average in this area.

We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be quite insignificant. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B+. In determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Oklahoma in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of turning residents more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this facility received an acceptable short-term care rating. Although this was not quite as strong as several of its other scores, this is really not a major area of concern. In determining these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to create a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this is below average.
