Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home fared well in our long-term care category, with an impressive grade of A- in this category. This really helped its overall score quite a bit. Facilities that do well in this category typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.69231 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is often a deadly condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Inspections is another area where this nursing home excelled. We awarded this nursing home an B+ for our inspections rating. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we graded was short-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a solid grade of B-. Short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. We were not able to find information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last area we graded is nursing. We awarded this facility a C in that category. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of hours those nurses were with residents, in calculating our grade in this area. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is well below average. Finally, we like to look at quality-based statistics, such as the percentage of patients who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. These metrics are decent measures of the quality of nursing care.
