Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our more favorable grades in that category with a B+. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
This facility's second best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. There are a number of datapoints within this category. Many of these subcategories reflect levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Does this page answer your questions about Mcnaughten Pointe Nursing and Rehab?
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is short-term care. This nursing home's was given a low-end short-term care grade where it received a lowly F. Short-term care grades are often employed to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. As you might expect, we learned that this nursing home offers substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical nursing home. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics sunk this facility's short-term care score.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed was long-term care. We gave it an F for this area, which is a poor grade. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means the nursing home didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 89.60396 percent of its patients. This is significantly lower than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
