Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

The main reason this facility received a decent overall grade is its impeccable government inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that category, with an A+. This is a much better score than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively minor. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's higher category grades was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a B+. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care scores. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 90.83769 percent of its patients. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Next we wanted to quickly point out one of this facility's major weaknesses. In the area of nursing care, we gave this nursing home a lowly grade of F. Our nursing score is based on many datapoints, but the main one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This facility performed well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home's worst category was short-term care, which is the last area we looked at. We gave it a lowly F for this area. In spite of a few respectable grades in other areas, this score is nevertheless disappointing so we wanted to make sure you are aware. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The purpose is to formulate a tool for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to discover that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected here. The last metric we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics sunk this facility's short-term care grade.
