Facility Inspections
Although this place's overall grade was not a highlight, it did receive a very good grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a grade of B for that category, which is one of our better grades. Our inspection grades are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. You should especially avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. The lack of deficiencies proved to be this place's best achievement.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of B- for our nursing rating. Nursing scores are mostly based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Finally, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this subcategory.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's third best area ended up being short-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of C. Short-term care ratings are vital for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final metric we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that just 4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was long-term care, in which this facility received an abysmal grade in this category also. We gave it an abysmal F in this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination record. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 99.39759 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this place also keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
