Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this facility has received near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was elite in the area of long-term care, where it received a grade of A. Not many nursing homes performed better in this category. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.22481 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous health condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its first-rate resume, this facility also was given a dominant short-term care grade, with a grade of A. Short-term care grades are generally used to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation To have quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our next category, this nursing home also performed well in the nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that category. This finalized a very impressive report card. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses employed by the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses worked with residents, in computing our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these data points as predictive indicators of the caliber of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
