Facility Inspections
We would like to point out that this nursing home's inspection grade exceeded its overall grade. This facility earned a B in this category, which is one of our better grades. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few relatively minor dings aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's better category scores was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. Nursing scores are mostly associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is not an impressive total. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at was short-term care. We gave this nursing home a B- in that category. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
