Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this facility overall, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall grade. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, we were not able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Without complete information regarding deficiencies for this facility, it ended up being difficult to really evaluate the place in this area.
Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our short-term care rating and that actually turned out to be its second best score. Short-term care ratings are crucial for people requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. As you might expect, we found that this place offers substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical nursing home. The last item we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5.1 percent of its patients returning home.

Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of long-term care, this nursing home was awarded just a D in that category. Nursing homes that do not score well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. Once we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit alarmed this facility vaccinated just 89.91098 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.
Nurse Quality
The last area we assessed is nursing, in which this facility was given a very poor grade in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F for this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. The nursing score includes a variety of factors. The most heavily weighted variable is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This nursing home averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this place also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of patients experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility. This could be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this facility's nursing grade quite a bit.
