Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for inspections. Inspection grades are tied to many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that score well in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. The nursing score analyzes several factors, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

The third category we analyzed was short-term care. Contributing to its elite profile, this nursing home also performed well in that area. In fact, we awarded it a of A in the area. Our short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Switching gears to our final category, this facility received an extremely favorable long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in this category, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it has plenty of staff and is a quality place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 99.354836 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is far higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
