Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category generally have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Another reason we rated this facility so favorably is that it was given an A+ short-term care score. This is just about as strong as it gets in this area. Our short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 7.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning our third category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for its long-term care score. This is a superb rating. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information about this nursing home's vaccination rates. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
In our last area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our nursing rating. This completed an elite report card. Our nursing score assesses the facility's nurse staffing levels. We factor in both the levels of training of those nurses and the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provided 0.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these areas as reliable measures of the quality of nursing care being provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
