Facility Inspections
While we were not complementary of this nursing home's overall performance, it actually received an impressive inspection report this year with few dings from the applicable government inspectors. As a result, it received one of our better grades in that category with a grade of B. Inspection ratings are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a solid score in the area of short-term care, with a C. In the category of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than a typical facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below the national average.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. The nursing grade weighs several datapoints, however, the most important one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a facility has quality controls in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we graded was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is an abysmal score. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category may not provide the kind of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. One of the data points we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 92.16868 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
