Short-term Care Quality
In addition to earning a strong overall score, this nursing home also earned an elite short-term care grade. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that area, with an A. In crafting our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to formulate a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
We also want to emphasize this facility's nearly flawless government inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Inspection scores are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This facility received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor dings are not something to panic about.

Nurse Quality
In addition, this nursing home received high marks in the area of nursing. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an impressive grade of A-. Our nursing grade analyzes the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of moving patients more often.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the final category we analyzed. For this category, we gave this facility a grade of just D. We wanted to draw your attention to this potential weak spot, however, you shouldn't focus exclusively on a single weak category either. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccinations. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to a relatively low 90.17341 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
