On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also earned excellent government inspections recently. We awarded it one of our highest scores in that area, with a grade of A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Adding to its fine assessment, this nursing home also was awarded a strong short-term care score, with a score of A. Our short-term care grade is typically used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. There are a number of factors included in this category. Most of these datapoints relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

The next area we assessed is long-term care, where this facility received a B-. This was this nursing home's least impressive category. This is still not a terrible score. For prospective patients in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 96.59091 percent of its patients, which is better than most nursing homes. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
