To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an A for nursing. We weighed the levels of nurses employed by the nursing home, as well as the number of hours those nurses worked with residents, in calculating our rating in this category. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Adding to its high-end assessment, this facility also received an excellent short-term care score, with a grade of A-. Our short-term care grade is often employed to grade a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To offer highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Our inspection ratings account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category typically have few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Turning to our final area, this facility was awarded a highly favorable long-term care score. Although this is not nearly as strong as some of its other category grades, this remains one of our better scores we offer. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death condition for nursing home residents so we like it when a nursing home doesn't roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
