Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home performed well in long-term care. In fact, we awarded it an impressive grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 87.08134 percent of its patients. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

We also want to emphasize this facility's nearly flawless inspections recently. We awarded them an impressive grade of B+ in this area. Our inspection ratings weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility received an impressive short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better scores in that area with a score of B. With our short-term care category, we endeavor to create a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we looked at is nursing. This facility was given a strong nursing rating in our assessment, with a B-. Even though this is not quite as elite as several of its other grades, this is nevertheless a respectable score for that category. When calculating a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the number of hours nurses commit to residents as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This facility provided just 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.
