Note: Marine Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation has been flagged for abuse in the past 12 months. We have capped this facility's overall grade accordingly.
Marine Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation is located in Fort Worth, Texas, which offers a slew of nursing homes. This facility was given an extremely poor overall score based on the data we looked at. Fort Worth received a city grade of C, so there are other options in the city worth considering. We wouldn't blame you if you're ready to stop reading and find another nursing home. Facility Inspections
B-
Historical
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
C
Historical
We were also stunned to discover that this facility received a decent long-term care rating in our assessment. We gave it a grade of C in this category. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were disappointed to learn that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 85.052635 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, we looked at the nursing home's number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this nursing home had 2.41 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Although this figure is somewhat concerning, this statistic may be skewed for some facilities due to the medical complexity of patients.

Nurse Quality
C
Historical
We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Our nursing rating analyzes quite a few datapoints, but the paramount consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 2.9 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics. Although this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality metrics. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it did well in this metric. This can be an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of moving a resident more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
D
Historical
The last area we graded is short-term care, is this facility's least impressive category. We gave this facility a grade of D in that area. Short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Given its weak rating in this area, we were not surprised to discover that this nursing home provided far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 44.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
