Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility has earned nearly flawless health inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also received a first-rate short-term care grade. Indeed, this turned out to be its second strongest category score. In that area, we awarded this facility a score of A. In crafting our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to formulate a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our nursing score assesses a handful of datapoints, but the most important one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we looked at was long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a decent score in that area, with a B-. While this was not on par with many of this nursing home's other grades, it is nevertheless not a terrible score. Our long-term care ratings are more critical for folks requiring more conventional services related to activities of daily living. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.291664 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the average nursing home. This facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
