Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This tells you the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility received quality marks in the area of short-term care. Consequently, it was given one of our most impressive scores in that category with a score of A+. Our short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality
In addition, this facility received high marks in the area of nursing. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. The nursing rating assesses several factors, many of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a system of turning a patient more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
In the final category we looked at, this facility was given high scores in the area of long-term care as well. Consequently, we awarded it an A+. This made it one of the few of facilities to receive A+'s in all of our categories. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. After we finished looking at the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly is often a life threatening ailment for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
