Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this ended up being a quality nursing home is it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection scores are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This exemplary nursing home also dominated in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of A+. Very few facilities performed better in this area. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital.
