Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility highly overall, we want to point out its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively minor. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility received its next best category score in the category of long-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of C in this category, which is a reasonably acceptable grade. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility provided the vaccine to just 74.11167 percent of its residents, which is well below average. Nevertheless, this nursing home keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. We assessed the levels of nurses employed by the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses spent with patients, in determining our rating in this area. This facility offered a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we rated was short-term care. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is a rock bottom score. Our short-term care grades are probably most critical for patients requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected to find. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
