We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 99.3994 percent of its residents against pneumonia. This facility was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. This place provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure which is well below the national average. Finally, our nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.

The third category we looked at was short-term care. This nursing home's was given a rock-bottom short-term care grade where it was given an F. Our short-term care grades are crucial for people looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a grade this poor for this area, we weren't surprised to find this facility was below average in multiple staffing areas we focus on. The nursing home provided significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics was damning for this facility's short-term care grade.
