Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its favorable overall score, we gave this facility a grade of A+ for our inspection category. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Surprisingly, this nursing home was assessed a category L deficiency, which is unexpected based on its inspection grade. This category means CMS identified a widespread deficiency placing resident safety or health in imminent jeopardy. In spite of this major red flag, other aspects of this facility's inspection report gave us some hope.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another quality feature for this nursing home is that it was given a very positive short-term care score. Indeed, this wound up being its second best category score. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. In computing our short-term care grades, we size up the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This score is frequently a solid assessment of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. When computing our nursing ratings, we look at both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we graded was long-term care. We awarded this facility a decent score in that area, with a grade of C. While this isn't as dominant as some of this nursing home's other scores, it is still nothing to be ashamed of. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home vaccinated 99.016396 percent of its residents, which is an above average total. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
