Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
Among this facility's litany of poor grades was its F in the category of short-term care. With our short-term care grade, we try to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. In determining a nursing home's nursing score, we look at the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This place fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the next area, this nursing home really did not perform well in this category either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as bad as it gets. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home didn't perform well in our measures relating to patient care. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination data. We were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated 85.86956 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be quite a few points lower than average. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
