This nursing home received a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its nearly flawless government inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection scores are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that excel in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is definitely a great sign for the quality of care at this facility.

This nursing home also received an impressive long-term care grade. Indeed, we gave them a grade of B in that category, which happens to be one of our better. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 97.26028 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Moving on to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing rating. In fact, we gave this nursing home an impressive grade of D. Our nursing score is largely based on a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

The next category we looked at is short-term care. We gave it an F for this category, which is a rock bottom grade. This is certainly a significant disappointment. In our short-term care assessment, we endeavor to craft a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Given its grade in this category, we were not surprised to find that this facility was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the figures we assessed. Frankly, this was what we expected to find. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
