Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home excelled at short-term care, with an A+ in this area. With our short-term care assessment, we try to forge a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Remarkably, this nursing home provides about 50% more services from physical therapists and registered nurses than most nursing homes we looked at. This is a very favorable sign. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities with 60.4 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.
Facility Inspections
Inspections is another category where this facility excelled. In fact, we gave this facility an B+ for our inspections category. This is far more impressive than the facility's overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be quite minor. This particular nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. When computing our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provided 3.8 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. At least one quarter of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. This is a high percentage of skilled nursing care. We weight these hours more in computing our nursing scores. Finally, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in two of the areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally good indicators of the quality of nursing care offered.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we rated was long-term care. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is a very poor score. This is clearly a major concern. If you are seeking services other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinates 97.75785 percent of its patients for pneumonia. We were far less impressed with the nursing home's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this place had 3.2 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is nearly twice the national average.
