Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great facility overall, it also earned A+ government inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly flawless. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among this nursing home's other accomplishments is its first-rate short-term care grade. We awarded them one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a score of A-. In the category of short-term care, we strive to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that 5 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In computing a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the number of hours nurses are caring for patients as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to the last area, this facility received a respectable long-term care rating. Although this was not as impressive as some of its other scores, this is really not a bad grade. Our long-term care grades are more important for those requiring more traditional assistance related to activities of daily living. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 98.52941 percent of its residents, which is better than the average nursing home. This nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
