Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its dominant profile, this facility also excelled in our long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A- in the category. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 99.4382 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the average nursing home. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded a favorable short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our higher scores in that area with a grade of B+. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This facility was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
