Facility Inspections
The main reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our higher grades in that area, with an A. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but certainly not elite. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some can be relatively minor. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Nurse Quality
Adding to this nursing home's list of strengths, it also received an excellent nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of C in this area. Our nursing rating is based on many components, however, the main consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, although this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did very well in this subcategory.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable area was its long-term care score, where it received a grade of C. Long-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of nursing services. This includes a vast scope of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable total. This nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed is short-term care, which is this nursing home's least impressive category. We gave this facility a D in this category. In our short-term care category, we seek to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With its score in this category, we were not surprised to learn that this nursing home is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the data we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This wasn't a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
