Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong nursing home overall, this nursing home really excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A-. Not many facilities fared better in that area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our nursing grade. Our nursing rating is primarily associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of turning patients more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility received an impressive short-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher scores in that category with a score of B+. Our short-term care grade is often employed to assess a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation In order to have highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer better levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last area, this facility really did not perform well. Due to an abysmal grade of F in that area, this is obviously its worst area. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 75.12438 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
