Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this nursing home also was given favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. Indeed, we gave it one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of B+. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. It outperformed the vast majority of nursing homes in the nation in this area with 56 percent of its patients returning home. This is a far higher rate than most facilities.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our more positive scores in our long-term care category as well, with a grade of B+. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. After considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.46 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we graded is nursing. This nursing home was awarded a strong nursing grade this year, with a grade of B-. Even though this is not quite as dominant as several of its other grades, this remains a decent rating in that area. Our nursing score is based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Out of this total, more than one quarter of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We attach more significance to these skilled nursing hours in preparing our nursing grades. Finally, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in two of the major data points we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally good measures of the quality of nursing care provided.
