Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our short-term care rating. In our short-term care grade, we endeavor to forge a fair measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We found that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. It offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating and that actually turned out to be its second highest score. Nursing grades are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home did not receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it only received a grade of D for its inspection grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. We suggest you scrutinize the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home had a category J through K deficiency, which rank among the worst deficiencies. These categories mean that CMS found a deficiency which places resident health or safety in imminent jeopardy. Lastly, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received large government fines recently of more than $100,000. This often means that a nursing home's bad track record has been an issue for multiple years.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed is long-term care. This facility received a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this category. Facilities that do not score well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this facility administered the vaccine to just 48.031498 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
