Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of C. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Surprisingly, this nursing home was hit with a category J through K deficiency, which are some of the worst categories of deficiencies. This generally indicates that inspectors uncovered a deficiency which places patient health or safety in immediate danger. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received some government fines in recent years.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also didn't perform poorly in the category of short-term care. Indeed, we gave it a grade of C for that category, which turned out to be among its more favorable scores. Our short-term care grade is typically used to score a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer good rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The tricky part is determining what effect this had on the quality of care. The last item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it a score of D for that category, which is one of our best grades. Nursing grades are largely tied to a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provided a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is far below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is long-term care, in which this facility was given a rock bottom score in this area also. We gave it a lowly F in this category, which is definitely very concerning. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 31.007751 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit lower than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
