Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a strong overall grade, this facility also received excellent inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our highest scores in that category, with an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. While this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was given a strong short-term care score. This actually is this facility's second strongest category score. In that category, this facility received a grade of A. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. Nursing ratings are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final category we graded is long-term care, in which this facility received a grade of B. While this wound up being its weakest category score, this is still a favorable grade. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 99.778275 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a deadly health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
