Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite insignificant. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, this facility also was awarded favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. Indeed, we awarded it one of our more favorable grades in that category, with a score of B+. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are kept in good health. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 91.56977 percent of its residents, which is somewhat less than we were hoping for. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home received a favorable short-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B+. Our short-term care ratings are presumably more meaningful for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
The final area we analyzed is nursing, where this nursing home was given a C. While this wound up being its poorest category score, this is still not a major area of concern. We looked at the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the number of hours those nurses worked with patients, in determining our score in this area. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is a low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we also baked some quality measures into our nursing grades. This nursing home was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are often reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care offered.
