Long-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this proved to be a great nursing home is that it earned a very impressive long-term care grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home an impressive grade of A. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the factors we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 88.535034 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
Turning to our inspection category, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that we have information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In calculating our short-term care ratings, we size up a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This rating is typically a useful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists.
