Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a top notch facility overall, it also performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its first-rate accomplishments in other areas, we gave this facility a grade of A- for its short-term care score. With our short-term care category, we try to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last measure we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility received an impressive long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher grades in that area with a grade of B+. Nursing homes that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we looked at, this nursing home was awarded an impressive grade grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this grade, the facility topped off a very strong report card. Nursing grades are primarily tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This facility fared well in some of the quality measures we looked at.
