Facility Inspections
While we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to point out its relatively favorable government inspections in recent years. We gave it a B in this area, which is much better than its overall grade. Inspection scores are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second best category was long-term care. We awarded it a B- in this area. This is essentially a slightly below average grade in this category. In computing our long-term care ratings, we look at the facility's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.21875 percent of its residents, which is better than the average nursing home. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. Nursing ratings are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is short-term care. This nursing home received a rock bottom grade of F in that category. Our short-term care grade is generally used to score a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Considering its poor score in this category, we weren't stunned to find this facility offered significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 3.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most facilities, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
