Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this facility also received an A+ inspection grade. This grade is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another quality feature for this facility is that it received an impressive long-term care grade. Indeed, this proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to 92.42424 percent of its patients. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to an additional strength for this nursing home, we awarded them one of our better grades in our short-term care category as well, with a B. Our short-term care scores are probably more meaningful for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we rated is nursing. This nursing home was awarded an above average nursing score in our assessment, with a B-. Although this isn't as good as many of its other grades, this remains an acceptable grade in that area. We looked at the levels of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the number of hours the nurses spent with patients, in calculating our rating in this category. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is not an impressive total. Lastly, nursing scores also consider quality-based measures, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a nursing home provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
