Facility Inspections
In addition to earning a great overall grade, this facility excelled in our inspections category, which is based on the facility's inspection reports. We gave it an A in that category. Our inspection grades are based on many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area tend to have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor dings are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of A. Our nursing category is based on quite a few subcategories, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning the page to our third category, we gave this nursing home a score of A- for its short-term care grade. This is a dominant score. Our short-term care grade is often employed to grade a nursing home's rehabilitation services In order to provide highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed is long-term care. In this category, we awarded this nursing home a decent grade of C. This was this nursing home's least impressive category. With our long-term care category, we weigh the sheer volume of services offered by a facility, as well as a few quality statistics. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 88.95522 percent of its patients. Fortunately, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
