Facility Inspections
While we were fairly low on this facility overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility just a D for our long-term care grade and that actually turned out to be its second most favorable score. For residents looking for a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the category of short-term care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation To have good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Based on its grade in this category, we were not surprised to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who returned home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our final area, this facility really didn't perform well here either. Due to an abysmal grade of F in nursing, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Our nursing score includes many subcategories, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to receiving below average scores for nursing hours, this place was less impressive in some of the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and found this facility was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
