Facility Inspections
In addition to performing well overall, this nursing home received a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it earned one of our best grades in that category with an A+. Arguably the most important factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
We also want to point out the fact that this nursing home was given a top-shelf score of A in our long-term care area. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 99.51923 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. The nursing score assesses many datapoints, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a resident more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed was short-term care, in which this facility received a grade of B. This actually is this nursing home's weakest category. A nursing home could be doing a lot worse when their worst grade still is superior to most facilities. In determining these short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to return home from the facility. We found that 4.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
